Schantz Home Improvement employee Cody Vernimo, who works in the accounting department, attended this annual event at the Cobb Galleria, where they were excited to network with fellow industry professionals. During the event, Cody was surprised to win a signed Brock Bowers jersey, the tight end for the University of Georgia Bulldogs. Not being a Georgia fan, he was talking with Nick Vaughn and Bob Semeraro, from ABC Supply, and they came up with a much better use for the jersey.

It was a great win, but Cody had another idea: what if this jersey could be used for something bigger than just a memorabilia prize?

Instead of keeping the jersey, Cody decided to auction it off and raise money for Home Repairs Ministry, a nonprofit dedicated to helping homeowners in need of critical repairs in the metro Atlanta area. Schantz has supported Home Repairs Ministry for years, so Cody thought this could be a perfect opportunity to give back to the community.

Auctioning for a Cause

Once the jersey was up for auction, bids quickly started rolling in. Schantz’ connections in the community, including local contractors and business partners, jumped at the chance to participate. The jersey was finally sold to Matthew Critten, with Big House Construction, a fellow Marietta-based company, for a generous price.
